Concept 500

The Concept 500 is a two-way floorstanding loudspeaker sold as a pair, with a 41 Hz to 30 kHz frequency response. Each speaker has a 28 mm high-frequency unit and two 165 mm mid/bass drivers, with a crossover at 2.5 kHz. Average impedance is 6 Ω, dipping to 3.7 Ω, and the recommended amplifier power is 25 to 200 W. Links on the rear adjust the high frequencies by plus or minus 0.5 dB.

The cabinet is built to reduce resonance. Gelcore construction uses a non-setting gel between layers to turn high-frequency vibration into heat. Point-to-Point bracing stiffens the panels, and Helmholtz Pressure Equalizer tubes relieve internal pressure that could cause standing waves. The tweeter sits in a sealed, decoupled enclosure, and the drivers are baffle-mounted.

Each speaker has bi-wire terminals on the rear, so two pairs of cable can run from the amplifier, one for highs and one for mid and low frequencies. Finishes are gloss black with rosewood or gloss white with light oak, with real Italian veneer at the rear. Grilles, spike feet and ball-end feet are included.
