The Speaker Box 3 E Carbon is a small passive loudspeaker built around a 3-inch fibre glass carbon composite bass/mid driver and a 0.75-inch silk dome tweeter. It works on the two-way bass-reflex principle, with a rear-firing port supporting the low end, and covers 83 Hz to 20 kHz. The cabinet is made from non-resonating MDF.
It is intended for desktop use and for home cinema setups. The enclosure is available in satin black or white paint, or in real walnut veneer. Magnetic grills in black are supplied, and the terminals are gold plated. A separate wall-mount bracket for the Speaker Box 3 range is sold as an accessory.
The speaker is a passive design and needs an external amplifier. An amplifier delivering at least 10 watts per channel is recommended, with a stated range of 10 to 100 watts. Pro-Ject suggests the Stereo Box S3 BT or MaiA S3 as matching partners. Each speaker weighs 1.69 kg and measures 175 x 119 x 152 mm.
