The CD Box E is a compact player for standard audio CDs, aimed at the entry level of the Pro-Ject range. The front panel is brushed, anodized aluminium with aluminium buttons, and the rest of the housing is rigid sheet metal intended to shield against mechanical and electromagnetic interference. The styling refers to the original CD Box. Discs load through a slot-in mechanism.
Inside is a Red Book CD-DA drive in a shock-proof mounting, paired with an MS8413 multi-bit delta-sigma D/A converter working at up to 24 bit/192 kHz. The design supports bit-accurate CD playback, and the analogue output stage has a low output impedance to reduce the influence of interconnect cables.
For connection, the player has one pair of RCA line-level outputs for an amplifier or active speakers, plus a coaxial S/PDIF digital output so an external DAC can be used instead of the built-in converter. A remote control is included, and the player comes in silver or black. Power comes from an external 12 V / 2 A DC supply.
