The Amp Box S3 is a micro-sized stereo power amplifier in a metal casing that shields against vibration and interference. It has one pair of RCA inputs and drives passive loudspeakers, delivering 2 x 23 W into 8 ohms and 40 W into 4 ohms, with a 2 x 50 W peak figure at 4 ohms. It is built around a redesigned PCB and amplifier topology aimed at lower distortion and a better signal-to-noise ratio.
Suggested uses include a hi-fi amplifier for rooms of 10-15 m2, a desktop amp for nearfield monitors, a power-amp upgrade for a streamer or home cinema system, a multiroom amplifier, and an amp for in-wall or ceiling speakers. The case measures 103 x 36 x 118 mm and weighs 385 g without the power supply.
Speaker connections accept 4 mm banana plugs, spades, pins or bare wire. A 2.5 mm jack provides a 12 V DC trigger input and output for switching with other equipment. Power comes from an external 20 V / 3 A universal DC supply. The amp is designed and produced in Europe and comes in a black and silver finish.
