The A2 is a belt-drive turntable whose automatic functions are purely mechanical. Pressing start moves the tonearm to the lead-in groove, and at the end of the record the arm returns to its rest and the motor stops. Once the record is playing the mechanism takes no part. The drop-off point can be chosen for 7" and 12" records at 45 RPM, and 78 RPM playback is supported alongside 33 and 45.
The tonearm, platter bearing and motor sit on a floating sub-chassis with a new aluminium diecast top, mounted in a heavy MDF main chassis finished in matt black. The 8.3" aluminium arm has a 4-point cardanic bearing with steel-tip ball bearings and a carbon-fibre-reinforced headshell. Tracking force is set with a dial at the arm bearing after levelling with a damped counterweight, and spring-based anti-skating is adjusted at the arm base. The platter is damped, precision-balanced aluminium.
Speed is changed electronically with one button, with no belt repositioning. The turntable is supplied with a phono RCA cable (Connect it E), a 15V DC power supply, dust cover, 7" single adapter and felt mat. It is handmade in Germany.
