The A1.2 is a belt-drive turntable with a fully mechanical automatic start and stop. Pressing start moves the tonearm to the lead-in groove, and the mechanism then disengages from the platter for the rest of the record. It is an update of the original A1, with a revised drive system and a new platter.
The platter is a CNC-machined, die-cast aluminium design that is damped and precision balanced. The 8.3-inch ultra-light-mass aluminium tonearm carries an Ortofon OM10 moving-magnet cartridge. Tracking force and anti-skating are set at the factory, so the deck is ready to play within seconds. Speed changes between 33 and 45 RPM electronically at the press of a button, with no belt repositioning.
The built-in phono preamp can be switched off if the deck is used with an external phono stage or an amplifier that has its own phono input. A semi-balanced, low-capacitance Connect it E phono RCA cable is supplied. The automatic drive is made in Germany and final assembly takes place in the Czech Republic.
