The Monitor XT70 is the largest model in the Monitor XT range. Each tower combines two 6.5" bi-laminate paper woofers with two 8" passive bass radiators, and a 1" Terylene dome tweeter handles the highs. The frequency response is listed from 35 Hz to 40,000 Hz, and the speaker carries Hi-Res Audio certification. It is also listed as Dolby Atmos certified and DTS:X compatible.

The cabinet is braced MDF with low resonance, intended to keep the driver sound separate from the enclosure. Removable, precision-fit grilles are included. Sensitivity is 89 dB at 1 W / 1 m with a 2,700 Hz crossover, and the speaker works with 4- and 8-ohm amplifier outputs. The suggested amplifier power is 25 to 200 watts per channel.

Connection is through 5-way nickel-plated binding posts on the rear, so it is wired to an AV receiver or stereo amplifier with ordinary speaker cable. The speaker is passive and needs external amplification. A single speaker is supplied per unit, so a stereo setup needs two.
