The twotwo sub2 is a powered subwoofer built to extend the low end of PMC twotwo monitors. It uses an Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) bass-loaded cabinet with a 3 m effective line length, a rigid, heavily braced low-resonance enclosure, and DSP-based filtering and bass management. It can be used in a 2.1 configuration with twotwo monitors or to reproduce the LFE channel in surround systems, including confined broadcast and post-production rooms where midfield levels are needed.
The 250 mm (9.8 inch) long-throw driver is a flat piston made from a carbon-fibre and Nomex sandwich. It is driven by 600 W rms of built-in Class-D amplification, and a single parametric EQ is provided for in-room alignment.
Connections are two balanced analogue XLR inputs (left and right) and one AES digital XLR input that accepts sample rates from 32 to 192 kHz. Sources are selected from the rear panel or with the optional rc1 remote. The digital input is passed through to analogue and digital outputs, so the sub can also act as a digital-to-analogue converter.
