PMC12

The PMC12 is a floor-standing active main monitor that sits above the PMC10 in scale, bass extension and maximum output. It uses a 3-way design with a 12-inch bass driver, a 75mm soft-dome midrange (PMC75v3) and a 34mm soft-dome tweeter. The midrange and tweeter work with the n-compass waveguide for wide, even dispersion. Bass is loaded by an Advanced Transmission Line cabinet with Laminair venting and an effective line length of 3.5m.

The bass driver is built in-house, with double-stacked magnets, a three-inch three-layer voice coil and a stable suspension intended to keep motor force linear over long excursions. Each cabinet is driven by one rack-mount PMC master36 DSP and amplifier unit, supplying 800W to the tweeter, 800W to the midrange and 1000W to the bass driver. The DSP handles crossovers, driver protection and room correction.

The master36 accepts analogue and digital signals, with digital up to 192kHz. Room alignment is done through the SoundAlign2 web interface, served from the speaker's built-in web server and reached over wired Ethernet from any standard browser on a PC or Mac. For more low-frequency headroom, the system can be extended to a twin-cabinet XBD configuration, and a matching subwoofer can be added.
