PB1i

The PB1i is a three-way passive floorstander. It combines a 27mm soft dome tweeter, a 75mm soft dome mid-range driver and two 170mm doped bass drivers. The bass units work together in an Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) with an effective length of 3.5m, which is intended to give extended low-frequency output from a relatively slim cabinet.

A hand-built 31-element crossover with 24dB per octave slopes splits the signal at 380Hz and 3.8kHz. Each driver receives only its intended frequency range, which raises power handling and supports wide dispersion, so the stereo image holds up across the room and not only at the central listening position. The speaker presents an easy load of 6 ohms and 87dB sensitivity, and the recommended amplifier power is 90-350W.

Connection is through three pairs of 4mm sockets, which allow tri-wiring or tri-amping. The speaker is described as suited to medium and large rooms. A 20 year warranty applies when the product is registered within 10 days of purchase, subject to terms.
