The MB2i is a three-way passive loudspeaker built around PMC's Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) bass loading, with an effective line length of 3m. It pairs a 310mm Radial bass driver, a 75mm soft-dome midrange and a 27mm Sonolex soft-dome tweeter, and its stated response runs from 20Hz to 25kHz.
The Radial bass unit has an exposed finned structure intended to keep the cone rigid and the voice coil cool during large excursions. The veneered cabinet uses precision-cut panels up to over 35mm thick, with internal damping and bracing that form the transmission line. A hand-built 24dB per octave crossover with individually matched components divides the bands at 380Hz and 3.8kHz.
Connection is by three pairs of 4mm sockets, allowing tri-wire or tri-amp operation, with a recommended amplifier power of 250-900W into 4 ohms. A matching horizontal centre model (MB2i-C) and XB2 subwoofer are available for surround setups, and pre-tuned stands are offered for the large stand-mounted i series models.
