IB1S-A

The IB1S-A is the active version of PMC's IB1S midfield monitor. A 200W DS-001 Class D amplifier sits in a vented DS-MODULE-001 on the rear plate, so the monitor needs no separate power amp or speaker cabling. This saves rack space, which matters in small studios and outside broadcast vehicles.

The acoustic design uses PMC's Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) bass loading, with a 240mm low-frequency driver with a 100mm voice coil and a 27mm soft dome high-frequency unit. The crossover points are 380Hz and 3.8kHz. The monitor can be bought ready-activated, or an existing passive IB1S can be upgraded by bolting the module to its back panel with six bolts. A retrofitted unit is described as having the same performance and specification as a factory-built one. The module can be fitted to horizontally or vertically oriented speakers, so it suits surround arrays including centre channels.

Audio input is through professional XLR connectors. Outputs are on Neutrik SpeakON NL4 or 4mm banana connectors. Versions are available for 100-115V or 230V mains.
