The Active twenty5.23i is the powered version of PMC's passive twenty5.23i floorstander. Each speaker contains an active crossover and two 100W amplifiers, so the pair needs only a source with volume control, such as a preamplifier or a streamer, to form a complete music system.
The cabinet uses PMC's Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) bass loading, with an effective line length of 2.4m, to give deep bass from a relatively small enclosure. A 5.5-inch (140mm) long-throw g-weave cone woofer on a cast alloy chassis handles low frequencies, and a 19mm SONOMEX fabric soft-dome tweeter with ferrofluid cooling covers the highs. The crossover point is 1.75kHz, and frequency response is stated as 28Hz to 25kHz.
Inputs are balanced analogue XLR and unbalanced RCA. Sensitivity can be switched between a low and a high setting. The speaker is offered in the finishes shared across the Active twenty5i range, and grilles can be fitted. A 20-year warranty applies if the product is registered within 10 days of purchase, subject to terms.
