The RMX-500 is a lightweight multi-effects unit that carries over the main ideas of the club-standard RMX-1000 in a simpler layout. It has three effect areas: Rhythm FX, Scene FX and Release FX.
Rhythm FX offers 5 audio effects, an Overdub sequencer and 5 drum samples, with a large Pressure Control knob that shapes effect depth and other parameters. Overdub is used to record beat sequences, and the Signal Flow button adds Scene FX on top of the Rhythm FX in play. Scene FX has 10 effect types split into build-up effects such as Noise, Echo and Spiral Up, and break-down effects such as Crush Echo, Spiral Down and Reverb Down. Release FX (Back Spin, Echo and Vinyl Brake) lets the DJ leave a complex effect combination and return to the original track.
Favourite Scene FX and drum sample variations can be selected and saved directly on the unit, and the lengths of back spins, brakes, echo and Overdub sequences can be set there too. RCA inputs connect to CDJs in the booth. A USB connection to a PC or Mac lets the unit act as a controller for the RMX-500 VST/AU/RTAS plug-ins, and it is fully MIDI assignable over USB.
