The MEP-4000 is a multi-entertainment player that carries over core functions from the CDJ range. It plays popular audio formats such as MP3 and WAV from CD-R/RW discs and from USB devices including flash memory and hard drives, so a mixed collection can be used to answer guest requests.
Music prepared in rekordbox on a computer can be saved to a USB device and brought to the player. From there, cues and loops can be triggered, and tracks can be browsed and selected by genre, album name or artist name. When no DJ is operating the system, the player can mix and play back music automatically from playlists.
It is positioned as a companion to the DJM-4000 MIDI-enabled mixer for a complete party setup. The page notes that power supply and operation cannot be guaranteed with every USB device, and that availability is limited to Africa, Asia and South America.
