The DDJ-SB is a small USB-powered 2-channel controller for laptop-based DJing. Its jog wheels are large and low-latency, with an aluminium top, aimed at accurate scratching. Eight rubber pads sit under each deck: the top four trigger Hot Cue, Auto Loop, Manual Loop and Sampler, and the bottom four give direct access to Play, Cue, Sync and Shift.
A Filter Fade function adds two high-pass filters to the crossfader, so volume and bass filtering can be handled with one hand. The unit works with the bundled Serato DJ Lite for cues, loops, samples and basic effects. With a Serato DJ Pro upgrade, dedicated buttons give control of FX and features such as Beat Jump, Slip mode and Quantize. It can also control rekordbox dj, which needs a licence key.
The controller connects to a PC or Mac with the supplied USB cable, which also powers it. A built-in sound card lets it connect directly to speakers or an amplifier without an external audio interface.
