The DDJ-SB3 is a 2-channel controller built around Serato DJ Lite. Its layout borrows from the DDJ-S range: jog wheels, Performance Pads, play and cue buttons, separate Auto Loop buttons, and knobs and faders placed to resemble professional equipment. The jog wheels are large with low latency, and the jog wheel is made of aluminium.
Pad Scratch lets you add scratch effects to cued or playing tracks without a turntable, using eight scratch recordings by DJ Jazzy Jeff. The speed follows the track BPM automatically. FX Fade lowers the volume while applying an effect, with eight combinations of four patterns: high pass filter, low pass filter, loop playback and back spin.
The unit has an on-board Serato sound card and connects to a PC or Mac by USB, so no external audio interface is needed. A microphone input circuit is designed to stay clear at high input levels. Handles and a light body make it easy to carry. A paid upgrade to Serato DJ Pro adds dedicated FX buttons, Beat Jump, Slip mode, 8 Hot Cues and 8 Sample buttons. Firmware updates are managed through Firmware Update Manager.
