The DDJ-RZX is a four-channel controller built around rekordbox, with large jog wheels, multicoloured Performance Pads and a layout taken from the CDJ-2000NXS2 and DJM mixer series. A separate sampler section handles Beat Sync, quantize and trim, and an oscillator sampler layers four preset sounds (Noise, Sine, Siren, Horn).
Three 7-inch touch displays show track information, enlarged waveforms, loops and Hot Cues, preview video and image files, and trigger Beat FX and Release FX. Touch FX lets you apply effects by tracing on the X and Y axes. The FX section also covers Sound Color FX, Mic FX, Combo FX, Sampler Repeat, Release FX and Active Censor.
Audio uses a 96 kHz/32 bit D/A converter from Asahi Kasei and a 96 kHz/24 bit USB sound card. The unit has two USB ports and sound cards, so two computers can be connected with an A/B switch for handovers. Two XLR combo mic inputs have a 3-band EQ and Mic FX. The build includes a brushed aluminium top plate, P-LOCK Fader Caps and a crossfader rated for over 10 million movements. DVS control is supported through rekordbox.
