The G9 II is a Micro Four Thirds body built around a 25.21MP effective Live MOS sensor and a newer image processing engine. It combines phase detection and contrast autofocus, with subject detection that can switch between human, animal, car and motorcycle. Continuous autofocus bursts reach 60 fps with the electronic shutter (75 fps with single AF), with a blackout-free viewfinder and a pre-burst function that records frames before the shutter is fully pressed.
Stabilization is handled by a 5-axis body stabilizer rated at 8.0 stops, and Dual I.S. 2 rated at 7.5 stops when paired with a compatible lens. Video includes C4K/4K 10-bit slow motion at up to 120p/100p, with MOV (H.264, H.265, Apple ProRes) and MP4 (H.264, H.265) recording. Real Time LUT lets photos and video be recorded with a colour look applied, and a Leica-collaboration Monochrome mode is included. An 8-directional joystick selects the focus area.
The camera connects over dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) and Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy. The body weighs about 575g without battery and card.
