MC Verismo

The MC Verismo is a moving-coil cartridge that sits at the top of Ortofon's Exclusives range. Its stylus is a nude Replicant 100 diamond, a line-contact shape designed to follow the original cutting stylus closely, mounted on a solid diamond cantilever. The coils use Aucurum wire, gold-plated 6NX oxygen-free copper, and sit in a compact neodymium magnet system with an armature made from a metal alloy that is less magnetic than ordinary iron.

The body is made of titanium using selective laser melting, a layer-by-layer process that allows control over material density and gives high internal damping. The cartridge touches the tonearm at three defined contact points on its top side, which is meant to give a consistent mechanical coupling.

The cartridge has a half-inch mount, weighs 9.5 g and has moderate compliance, so it suits most modern tonearms. Output is 0.2 mV, with a recommended tracking force of 2.6 g and a recommended load impedance above 10 Ω.
