2M Black

The 2M Black is the highest model in Ortofon's 2M series of moving-magnet cartridges. It carries a nude Shibata diamond stylus on an aluminium cantilever. The slim, highly polished stylus profile gives a wide contact area with the groove walls, which is meant to help it follow fine detail, including high-frequency groove information.
The generator uses Ortofon's split pole pin design with silver-plated OFC coil wire in a quad-coil arrangement. The body is made of polymer and aluminum in black. The recommended tracking force is 1.5 g, and the output is 5 mV at 1 kHz, so it works with ordinary phono inputs for moving-magnet cartridges.
The 2M series is made in Denmark and was styled with Møller Jensen Design. The standard 2M version uses a half-inch mount to fit the most common turntables. The series also has Premounted, Verso (bottom mount) and 2MR (low-form tonearms such as Rega) configurations. A user guide and dimensions chart are available from the maker.
