The 2M 78 is a moving magnet mono cartridge for 78 rpm shellac records. It has a spherical diamond stylus with a 65 µm tip radius, a larger profile than is used for microgroove records, and an aluminium cantilever. The body is made of polymer and aluminium.
The output is strapped, so both sets of pole pins carry the same signal. This gives true mono reproduction on any stereo playback system without mono-specific electronics. The recommended tracking force is 1.8 g, with a range of 1.6 to 2.0 g.
The cartridge uses the 2M Series half inch mounting and is sized to fit the most common turntables. A user guide and a dimensions chart are available for download. Other 2M Series variants cover premounted, bottom mount (Verso) and low-form factor (2MR) needs.
