The Glenn Hughes Signature O Bass is a bolt-on, four-string bass designed in-house by Orange together with Glenn Hughes. It is finished in Deep Purple with chequerboard purfling on the body and headstock. The offset okoumé body is light and balanced, and the maple neck has a slim profile with a satin finish and a purpleheart fretboard.
Electronics are deliberately simple: one Seymour Duncan SPB-1 split-coil pickup, a master volume and a master tone control. The pickup sits nearer the bridge than on a traditional P-style bass, which gives a tighter low end and a more pronounced midrange. Rolling the tone down gives rounder, vintage-style sounds, and opening it up gives brighter, more aggressive ones.
Hardware includes a nickel top-loading four-saddle bridge and open-gear tuners. The bass is passive and has a standard instrument output with no battery. It comes with a padded black gig bag with a printed Orange logo and an alternative 3-ply black scratchplate.
