The NOD-1 Horseman is a pocket-sized overdrive that draws on the Klon Centaur. It has two voicings: Gold mode follows the transparent character of the Gold Centaur, while Silver mode extends the gain range in the manner of the Silver Centaur. Three knobs set Treble, Gain and Output level.

An on-board op-amp voltage converter lifts the internal rail to 18V from a standard 9V supply, giving extra headroom and harmonics. Clipping is done by two Schottky diodes chosen to stand in for discontinued germanium parts. The gain control is a dual-ganged pot that acts on bass and mid frequencies. With low gain and high output the pedal works as a clean boost, for example to push an amp's drive channel or another overdrive.

Bypass can be switched between true bypass and buffer bypass: hold the footswitch while applying power, and the LED shows red for true bypass or green for buffer bypass. Buffer mode is suggested for chains of more than four pedals. Connections are a 1/4-inch input and output plus a 9V DC power input.
