Description

This analog overdrive pedal aims at the punchy, clear character of classic Black Panel Fender amplifiers. The gain stage is built around a JRC4558 chip, and an op-amp section shapes the response to imitate how those tube amps break up. The result is a glassy drive that keeps the character of the guitar, adding sustain and natural compression.

A saturation trimmer sets how much drive is available. The pedal uses true-bypass hardware switching, so the signal path is left untouched when it is turned off. The design is credited as inspired by the VEMURAM Jan Ray.

It runs from a 9 V DC supply or a 9 V battery and draws under 20 mA. Input impedance is 1M Ohms and output impedance is 10K Ohms. The enclosure measures 121 x 77 x 48 mm and weighs 230 g. User manuals are offered in English, French, Italian and Japanese.
