Launchpad Mini is a small pad controller with an 8x8 grid of 64 RGB pads and 16 further buttons. In Ableton Live the grid mirrors the session view, and dedicated controls handle Stop, Solo and Mute. In Logic Pro it triggers cells in Live Loops, so arrangement ideas can be sketched and performances recorded.
Three Custom Modes let users map the pads to other MIDI targets with Components. The 2.0 firmware update adds a Custom Mode keystroke widget, which allows DAW shortcuts to be assigned to the pads. Outside Ableton Live it works as a standard MIDI controller. Ableton Live 10 or later is needed for the Launchpad Mini integration.
It connects and is powered over a single USB-C port, with a Kensington MiniSaver slot for locking it down. After plugging in, an online Easy Start tool guides software setup. The bundled software includes Ableton Live Lite, Cubase LE, AAS Session Bundle, XLN Audio Addictive Keys Studio Grand, Klevgrand R0Verb and DAW Cassette, and Melodics finger drumming lessons.
