The Launchkey Mini Mk3 is a small keyboard controller built around 25 mini keys, 16 velocity-sensitive RGB backlit pads and eight knobs. Two touch strips handle pitch bend (centre zero) and modulation. It has an arpeggiator, a fixed chord mode that transposes with the keys, a strum mode, and a capture MIDI function.
Control of Ableton Live is deep: device macros, track select, record, clip and scene launch, stop/mute/solo, volume, pans and sends. Scripts are available for Logic and Reason, and other DAWs including Pro Tools, Reaper and Studio One work through HUI. It also works as a standard MIDI controller, and it is NKS-ready for Native Instruments software.
Connection is by USB, which also provides bus power. A 3.5 mm TRS Type A MIDI Out socket lets it drive hardware synths and grooveboxes without a computer, though MIDI DIN breakout cables are not included. A sustain pedal can be connected. The software bundle covers Ableton Live Lite, Komplete 15 Select, Addictive Keys, AAS Session Bundle, LABS Expressive Strings and Klevgrand plug-ins.
