Description

The KM 85 is a small-format cardioid microphone that runs on phantom power. It shares its basic character with the KM 84, and the main difference is a low-frequency cut built into the capsule.

That low cut offsets the proximity effect, the bass boost that appears when a sound source is very near a directional microphone. This makes the KM 85 better suited to short working distances, as are typical for speech and spoken-word recording.

The microphone is part of Neumann's historical range of miniature microphones. Data and diagrams, accessories, downloads and order information are provided in separate sections of the maker's product listing.
