Maschine Mikro is a compact controller built to work with the Maschine 3 software on a laptop. Its 16 velocity-sensitive pads work in four modes: Pad for drumming, Keyboard for melodies, Chord for progressions, and Step for step-sequencer style programming. A dual-touch Smart Strip handles strumming, pitch bending and Perform FX, while a small screen with a multi-function encoder is used for browsing sounds and adjusting parameters.
Dedicated buttons cover play, record, stop, sampling, swing, tune, note repeat and Lock, with Shift giving access to extra functions such as quantize, undo and copy/paste. The software provides a mixer, arranger and sampler (with stem separation), the Maschine Central library, Drum Synth and Bass Synth plug-ins, Perform FX, and studio effects. Komplete Select, Massive, Monark and Reaktor Prism are included.
The unit is powered via USB 2.0 and has no audio interface or MIDI ports of its own. It can run on its own or as a VST, Audio Unit or AAX plug-in in DAWs such as Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Cubase, FL Studio and Pro Tools. It cannot be used without a computer.
