The M64 handles 64 channels of optical MADI and a separate 64 channels of coaxial MADI, with an extra duplicate BNC output, in all standard formats and sample rates. Any input can be sent to any output or split to several outputs, optical MADI can be converted to coaxial, and streams can be routed to the computer and to devices on the AVB/TSN network. It acts as a converter, router, splitter and repeater.
A built-in 48-input digital mixer offers 7 stereo aux busses, 3 groups and access to 64 network inputs. DSP effects include reverb, EQ modeled on British analog console EQs, and compression modeled on the LA-2A. Processing is 32-bit floating point. Metering for all I/O is shown on a full-color LCD, and analysis tools include FFT, spectrogram, oscilloscope, X-Y plot and phase analyzer.
The unit connects to a computer over USB (class compliant, with USB 3 and iOS compatibility) and to other MOTU AVB devices over Ethernet. Control is through a web app served from the hardware, usable from any browser on the same network, including a touchscreen-oriented Touch Console. Word clock in and out, an assignable headphone output and a bracket kit for pairing with other MOTU half-rack units are included.
