The 681 is a network player and DAC that turns digital sources into analog signal for an amplifier. It is built around the MiND 2 streaming module, the MDE1 digital engine and MHV (MOON Hybrid Volume) level control, in a fully balanced configuration. It handles PCM up to 32-bit/384 kHz and DSD256 over USB Audio and MiND 2.
For streaming it connects natively to TIDAL, Qobuz, Deezer and Spotify, and it is Roon Ready. It also supports Qobuz Connect, AirPlay, Bluetooth aptX, Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect. A 4.3-inch colour display shows artwork, format, source and playback status, and the BRM-1 remote is supplied.
On the back panel there are six digital inputs and an HDMI ARC input, including AES/EBU, USB Audio, optical and coaxial. Analog outputs come on RCA and XLR at fixed or variable level. MOONLink allows coordination with other MOON components. Low-power standby draws 5 W.
