The UltraGold is a dual moving-coil stereo cartridge built in Japan. Its nude Shibata diamond sits on a boron cantilever, and the generator uses a neodymium magnet, a permendur yoke and PCOCC (Pure Copper by Ohno Continuous Casting) coils. Frequency response is stated as 20–35,000 Hz, with an output of 0.4 mV and an internal impedance of 12 Ohm.
The aluminum body has threaded inserts, so the cartridge can be fixed to a headshell or an integral tonearm with two screws, without bolts or nuts. Tracking force is 1.8–2.2 g and the weight is 7.3 g. Static compliance is 40 x 10e-6/dyne and dynamic compliance is 10 x 10e-6/dyne.
As a moving-coil design with a low output, it connects through a turntable's tonearm and phono stage that accepts MC cartridges, with a recommended load of 100 Ohm or higher. A manual and a brochure are available as downloads.
