SourcePoint 8

The SourcePoint 8 is a pair of two-way vented-box loudspeakers designed by Andrew Jones as a smaller relative of the SourcePoint 10. A custom 8-inch concentric driver places a 1.25-inch wide-roll soft-dome tweeter at the centre of the woofer, and the woofer cone works as a waveguide for the tweeter so that the two share matched directivity. The crossover point is 1.6kHz.

The drive unit uses a Twin-Drive neodymium magnet system that produces a symmetrical magnetic field, intended to keep intermodulation distortion low. The front baffle is sculpted with several facets to limit diffraction. Fabric-wrapped grilles fit the baffle shape and attach magnetically; they can be taken off for critical listening.

Cabinets come in Satin Walnut or Satin Black Ash real wood veneer, or painted Satin White, with the veneer book-matched across the pair. Connection is by 5-way binding posts. The speakers are listed with or without optional stands and carry a five-year parts and labor warranty.
