The Studio Classic Head is a single-channel valve amplifier head built around the circuit of the Marshall JCM800. It uses two ECC83 preamp valves, one ECC83 phase splitter and two EL34 power valves, and is rated at 20W with a switch that drops the output to 5W for quieter rooms. A master volume sits alongside the preamp volume, so the amp can be pushed from clean tones to overdrive at different listening levels.
Tone is shaped with treble, middle, bass and presence controls. There are two 1/4" instrument inputs, one high and one low sensitivity, to suit different guitars and playing styles. A single series effects loop with a switch lets pedals or processors be placed after the preamp. The head is smaller and lighter than the original it is modelled on, and it is assembled in the maker's factory in Bletchley, England, with some hand-soldering.
For connections, the rear panel has five 1/4" speaker outputs covering 16Ω, 8Ω and 4Ω loads, plus a 1/4" DI output. The amp comes in black, with a detachable power cable and a speaker cable supplied.
