The 1959 Modified is a two-channel, 100W valve head built around the classic 1959 circuit, with three added controls for modern use. A master volume allows high-gain crunch at lower levels, a switchable bright cap changes the high-frequency character from sharp and vintage to smoother and warmer, and a gain boost adds either classic breakup or a higher-gain mode.
The two channels share one EQ section with treble, middle, bass and presence controls. The power stage uses four EL34 valves, and the preamp uses ECC83 valves, with a further ECC83 as phase splitter. Two overdrive modes are available, described as diode clipping and transistor clipping.
For connection, the head has two 1/4" jack speaker outputs with a selectable 16Ω, 8Ω or 4Ω load. It is designed and engineered in the UK and built at the Bletchley, England factory. The finish is black.
