Description

The № 526 is a preamplifier built around a discrete, direct-coupled, fully balanced, dual-monaural signal path. Volume is set by a discrete balanced R-2R ladder rather than a potentiometer. The gain stage uses folded cascode circuitry, and the chassis is 6063-T5 extruded aluminum.

The digital section uses a 32-bit ESS-based DAC with three selectable filters (Fast, Slow, Minimum Phase). It accepts PCM up to 32-bit/192 kHz and native DSD up to 5.6 MHz over USB. The class-A phono stage has separate MM and MC sections, with five loading settings for MM, three gain settings and ten loading settings for MC, plus an infrasonic filter. A class-A headphone output uses the main output circuit and drives headphones up to 32 ohms.

Inputs: six digital (AES/EBU, two coaxial, two optical, USB Type B), five line-level (two XLR, three RCA) and one phono. Outputs: balanced XLR, single-ended RCA and a 1/4-inch headphone jack. Control options include Ethernet/IP, RS-232, USB for web configuration, 12V triggers and an IR input. A selectable 80 Hz fourth-order high-pass filter helps with subwoofer integration, and an SSP unity-gain mode supports home theater use. A metal remote is included.
