The AV7706 is a preamp-processor without built-in power amplifiers, so it needs separate amplification for the speakers. It decodes Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Auro-3D, and it uses Audyssey MultEQ XT32 for automatic room correction. Its HDMI section handles 8K/60 and 4K/120 and supports eARC, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, ALLM, QMS, QFT and VRR.
Outputs for up to 11.2 channels are on both balanced XLR and RCA, with two independent subwoofer outputs. The unit has seven HDMI inputs on the rear and one on the front, plus three HDMI outputs. It also has a moving-magnet phono input, analog and digital inputs, and a second zone with its own pre-outs.
Networking is by Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, including Bluetooth headphone transmission. HEOS multiroom streaming, AirPlay 2, Roon Tested status and voice control through Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri are included. Control options include IP, RS-232, a web browser and a smartphone app.
