The Keystation 61 MK3 is a MIDI controller for sequencing and playing virtual instruments. It has 61 full-size, semi-weighted keys with velocity sensitivity, assignable octave buttons, pitch-bend and modulation wheels, a volume fader, and transport and directional buttons for operating a DAW without a mouse. The fader, buttons and wheels can be assigned to other DAW or plugin parameters.
For connections it has a USB port, a 5-pin MIDI output for hardware synths, and a 1/4" (6.3 mm) sustain pedal input. The transport and directional controls work in Mackie Control, Mackie/HUI or MIDI modes. The unit is class-compliant and runs from USB power without drivers on Mac or PC. A 9 V DC supply can be used instead but is sold separately. It also works with iOS devices through Apple's Lightning to USB Camera Adapter or iPad Camera Connection Kit, both sold separately.
A software bundle is included: Ableton Live Lite, MPC Beats and AIR Music Tech instruments (Mini Grand, Velvet, Xpand!2, TubeSynth, Electric and Bassline). Skoove and Melodics lessons and a Touch Loops sample pack are also offered through the user's M-Audio account.
