The MAUI 5 combines a column array and a bass-reflex subwoofer base in a system weighing just under 11 kg. It is rated at 800 W peak and 200 W RMS, with a maximum peak SPL of 120 dB. The class-D amplifier sits in the 8" subwoofer cabinet along with LD Systems LECC digital signal processing and protection against overcurrent, overheating and short circuits.

The built-in 4-channel mixer takes microphone, line and high-impedance instrument sources and Bluetooth streaming at the same time. Each channel has its own level control, and there are also subwoofer level and system volume controls plus a high-shelf filter to adapt the treble to the room. The drivers are arranged as a line array with 120° horizontal dispersion, which keeps the level more even towards the back of the room. High feedback resistance means the system can be placed near the performer, so a separate monitor wedge is usually not needed.

The system is made up of four components that join through dedicated multi-pin connectors, so no cables run between the subwoofer and the column. The subwoofer base has a footprint of 305 × 395 mm. A white version (LDMAUI5W), a transport bag for the column and a protective cover for the subwoofer are available separately.
