The S12.4 is a front-ported active subwoofer built around a 12" Kevlar aramid composite woofer and a Class D power amplifier rated at 220 W continuous. It extends bass response down to 23 Hz in the feature list, and the specification lists a 26 Hz–97 Hz frequency response with a maximum peak SPL of 119.9 dB. The cabinet is made of 18 mm reinforced MDF with a lower profile than earlier designs and a front-firing port shaped to limit port turbulence and boundary coupling.
It is intended to be used with KRK or other powered studio monitors. A four-position crossover control adapts the sub to the monitors in use, and polarity and input sensitivity controls help with level and phase matching. A footswitch input (footswitch sold separately) lets the user mute the sub and the crossover filter, sending full-range audio to the monitors without switching the sub off. A ground lift switch helps prevent ground loops.
Connections are XLR, 1/4" TRS and RCA, left and right, on both inputs and outputs, plus a balanced TRS LFE input and a 1/4" footswitch jack. The AC input is voltage-selectable, and the enclosure has an EVA isolation pad.
