The Sledgehammer is a clip-on tuner that attaches to a guitar or bass headstock. Its tubular body carries a shuttle switch on each side, which is turned up or down to power the unit on and off, change modes and adjust calibration with one hand, much like turning a tuning peg.
A high-contrast colour LCD shows a VA-style meter with a wide viewing angle. Besides chromatic mode there are dedicated guitar and bass modes that show the string number next to the note name. Flat tuning is available in both instrument modes and capo settings in guitar mode. In guitar mode a first-string over-winding indicator appears if the thin string is tightened too far, which helps beginners avoid breakage.
The clip combines a movable arm with a ball joint, so the tuner holds firmly on a variety of headstocks and can be angled freely. Calibration supports different concert pitches, auto power-off saves battery, and a memory backup keeps settings while the unit is off.
