The Pa5X Oriental is an arranger workstation built on the EDS-XP sound engine, with 24 stereo oscillators and 160 voices of polyphony. On top of the regular Pa5X content it adds 240 Oriental sounds, 70 Oriental drum kits and 264 Oriental styles, with material covering Arabic, Turkish and Persian music. An on-screen virtual keyboard lets you retune individual keys or select alternative scales, and scales can differ between keyboard sounds, styles and songs.
Performance tools include an 8-inch tiltable touchscreen, a programmable control section with 9 buttons and 9 sliders, two crossfading players for styles, MIDI files and MP3 files, chord recognition with an Expert mode, a SongBook with set lists, and a sampler that imports AIFF, WAV and SF2 files. Sounds pass through up to 10 insert effects, 3 master effects and a finalizer, and separate microphone and guitar inputs each have their own effects, including four-voice vocal harmony.
Connections include MIDI, USB, HDMI for an external display, balanced outputs, four line outs and three pedal inputs. It is available with 88 weighted keys, or with 76 or 61 semi-weighted keys, all with aftertouch.
