Korg opsix
The Korg opsix is a 6-operator digital synthesizer built on an altered FM architecture, with an operator mixer of faders and knobs for hands-on sound shaping. It suits players and producers who want deep FM-based sound design with a step sequencer and onboard effects.

The opsix combines six-operator FM with subtractive, semi-modular, analog-modeling, waveshaping and additive approaches. Six faders and knobs form an Operator Mixer, lit red for sound sources and blue for modulators. Six data entry knobs work with a large OLED display that also offers a spectrum analyzer and oscilloscope view.
Sound is shaped by 40 preset algorithms plus user-made ones, a modulation section with three EGs, three LFOs and 12 virtual patches, and a filter set that includes MS-20 and PolySix models alongside 2- and 4-pole types. Three effect blocks draw on 30 effect types. A polyphonic motion sequencer records up to six notes per step and up to six parameter changes, and a Randomize function scrambles all parameters or only selected parts.
A computer connects over USB for the free Sound Librarian software, which manages and transfers sound data. Owners can crossgrade to the opsix native plug-in, which uses the same sound engine, and the synth ships with a bundle of third-party and Korg music software.
