The microKORG XL+ builds on the microKORG XL, keeping its powerful analog-modeled sound and its keyboard staples such as electric piano and CX-3 organ. This revision expands the sound set with the SGproX piano, M1 and VOX organs and well-known tape instruments.
Sound generation is based on MMT, a distillation of Korg's analog modeling technology. A new program genre selector reflects the current musical scene, and a Kaoss effects engine provides the kind of processing expected from Korg. A vocoder is included, supplied with a gooseneck microphone.
Playing is done on Korg's Natural Touch mini-keyboard, which is designed around playability. The instrument can run on batteries for portability, and its black panel carries a new vintage look. A Sequenz MP-TB1 backpack is listed as an accessory for carrying a compact synth.
