The Humidi-Beat is a portable metronome that also measures temperature and humidity. Readings are taken every ten seconds while the metronome is on, and a Lo/Hi warning appears when humidity falls outside the 40–60% range regarded as suitable for musical instruments. It also includes a clock, and it is small enough to stay inside an instrument case or be attached to the outside of one.
Tempo can be set in three ways: Pendulum Steps that follow the increments of a mechanical metronome, Full Steps in single BPM increments from 30 to 252, or Tap Tempo. A Loud/Soft switch selects between a strong tone and a quieter one for private practice. A blinking red light shows the tempo, the display shows the current beat number, and the sound can be muted so only the visual indicators are used.
Beat counts run from 0 to 9, combined with five rhythm patterns: duplets, triplets, triplets with inner beats omitted, quadruplets, and quadruplets with inner beats omitted. The unit keeps tempo, beat, rhythm, calibration and watch settings in memory when switched off, though these reset when the battery is replaced. It switches itself off after twenty minutes of inactivity.
