Grandstage X combines seven separate sound engines: SGX-2 acoustic piano, EP-1 electric piano, CX-3, VOX and FC-1 organs, AL-1 analog modeling and HD-1 PCM. Together they supply 700 programs, including 13 main pianos, three mono piano tones and a midrange-focused variation.
Performance controls include a key-touch slider for adjusting how volume and timbre respond to playing strength, and a three-part section with on/off buttons and volume sliders for layers and splits. A Nutube-based Analog Tone function adds tube-style warmth. Reverb and delay are adjustable from the main panel, with a new shimmer reverb and a 3-band EQ. A Unison function thickens synth and FM piano sounds, and a rhythm and chord progression section provides drum and bass tracks that follow played or preset chords.
The body is painted aluminum with perforated metal side panels and a light ivory top panel. An optional ST-WGS wooden stand matches its curves. The unit ships with a free software bundle that includes iZotope Ozone Elements, Skoove and KORG and third-party software synths. System updates are applied through the Korg System Updater.
