The EK-50 is built around automatic accompaniment called Styles. Playing a single finger or chord with the left hand produces a full backing band, and each Style has four variations plus an intro and an ending. Single Touch Select loads a matching sound setup whenever a Style is chosen. More than 280 Styles from around the world are onboard, along with 64 Music Styles that preset the Style, sound and tempo for familiar songs.
The instrument carries more than 702 sounds, including pianos, violin, sax and drums. A Split function divides the keyboard so different sounds can be played with each hand, and a dedicated Grand Piano button returns to the starting piano sound at any time. A central display shows the selected sound and Style names in large characters, and the main switches have LED indicators.
Song mode plays internal demo songs, your own recordings, and MP3, WAV or SMF files from a USB flash drive. Up to 96 additional Styles can be loaded from a USB flash drive. Built-in 10W x 10W stereo speakers also reproduce sound from an external device connected to the input jack. The keyboard runs from the supplied AC adaptor or from AA batteries, which are sold separately.
