This is Korg's revival of the ARP Odyssey, a two-oscillator duophonic analog synth. The original circuitry was recreated with advice from ARP co-founder David Friend. Sound shaping covers oscillator sync, sample & hold, pulse width modulation, a high-pass filter, two types of envelope generator and pitch bending with the PPC.
A single switch selects between three filter circuits modelled on the three original generations: a 12 dB/Oct design, a 24 dB/Oct design and a version that stays stable at high resonance. A second switch chooses between the portamento behaviours of the early and later originals when transposing. A new DRIVE switch makes the VCA distort for a rougher tone.
The keyboard has 37 slim keys, and the transpose function stretches this across seven octaves. Connections include MIDI IN, a USB-MIDI port, a headphone jack with its own volume control and balanced XLR outputs. Quarter-inch and mini patch cables and a semi-hard case are supplied.
