The RP-500SA is a Dolby Atmos elevation and surround speaker from the Reference Premiere range. In its ceiling-bounce role it uses horn-loaded controlled directivity to direct sound upward and reflect it off the ceiling, adding overhead effects. It can also be fixed to a wall as an elevation or surround speaker using its keyhole mounting system, which allows the angle to be set for the desired effect.
Each speaker has a 1-inch titanium LTS vented tweeter coupled to a Hybrid Tractrix horn, plus a 5.25-inch spun copper Cerametallic woofer. A switchable crossover setting lets the speaker be configured for either Dolby Atmos or surround sound use. The cabinet has a scratch-resistant finish and a removable magnetic grille described as strong and flexible.
The cabinet measures 7.39 x 6.81 x 11.16 inches. A spec sheet and a Reference Premiere speakers manual are available as downloads. A newer RP-500SA II model has since been released.
