La Scala AL6

The La Scala AL6 is the current version of the La Scala, a horn-loaded speaker first introduced in 1963. Each of its three drivers is coupled to its own horn and tuned for one of three pass-bands, so the speaker produces more acoustic power from less amplifier wattage.

The midrange uses a 3" cinema-grade K1133 compression driver, one inch larger than the drivers in earlier AL5 models. It feeds a patented K-406M Tractrix horn with a shorter 2" throat and Mumps contouring to hold frequency response out to the horn's edge. The K-771 compression driver is fitted with a patented extended phase plug for the highs. A patented horn-loaded, vented design is used for the bass.

The I/O panel is on the back of the cabinet and has passive and active inputs plus a passive output. This allows either a conventional passive connection or use with the optional Heritage Active Crossover, a DSP unit tuned for La Scala speakers that aligns time and phase and applies EQ. Cabinets carry a book-matched natural wood veneer in American Walnut, American Auburn or Black Ash.
